Ottspott in a few words
We’re a team of entrepreneurs, web, design and telecom passionates. Together, back in 2013, we’ve created Apidaze.io, a disruptive Telecom API with a strong focus on WebRTC. Mid 2017, Apidaze.io was acquired by US based VoIP Innovations and is now their CPaaS platform.
After having disrupted the way webdevelopers could create communication apps, we’ve decided to take a new challenge and disrupt traditional enterprise unified communications..
Here’s how Ottspott began…
We started using Slack and after just a couple of days , we completely fell in love with Slack. Our geeky dev team decided to start integrating our API with Slack’s API and find a way of handling calls, while using Slack’s advanced messaging features. Starting from a simple phone number allocation to Slackbot notifications in a dedicated channel, we’ve built a lightweight phone system that would suit our collaborative way of working. By integrating the Slack API, the Apidaze API and our worldwide communication infrastructure, in less than two months we had our basic phone system installed for handling sales and support outbound and inbound calls. It was basic, but it worked perfectly!
But our baby app needed a name. We chose Ottspott. ‘OTT’ refers to Over The Top messaging apps like WhatsApp, WeChat or Viber, which have smashed the supremacy of telecom operators. And ‘spott’ hints to our ultimate wish to become the hotspot for collaborative communications between startups and fast-growing companies using Slack.
